Final thoughts

WOW I cant belive im finally done. After so many weeks and months of this project this is it. You know in the begining I was really confused and  I wasn't sure what to do, and it all seemed like too much at once. I didn't know what to do and was afraid of making a mistake. Sometimes I thought I was behind and everyone elses projects where better than me. There were times when I just sat there and thought, "What do I do next?" It was hard, and at first I didn't feel very sure of myself. Things did get better over time, though. My partner and I worked together and helped each other out when we ran into problems. Things worked out in the end, and we didn't give up. That helped a lot. By the end I

felt way more comfortable and I actually started to enjoy parts of it. Like recording and editing was kind of fun once I got used to it. Just getting together for days to help plan, record, edit and even help eachother with our blogs and do stuff together. It really brought me and my partner closer together.

Looking back now I feel proud of how everything came out. It is not perfect but we worked hard and finished it. I learned how to be more patient and how to fix problems instead of just getting stuck. So yeah at first it was rough but in the end it turned out good and I am happy we got it done.

Editing the ccr

My project was pretty straightforward to edit. I edited all of my clips using Clipchamp to make sure they were in the right place. To make the film feel less messy, I cut out unnecessary parts to make it flow better. After that, I looked through my blog and the internet for pictures of the stuff I was talking about in my CCR. I added those pictures in the video so that people could see and understand what I was talking about better. This made it more interestingand kept it from being just very bland and boring.

After that, I made a nice intro for part 2 using Canva to make it look cleaner instead of boring. I then looked for background music on Pixabay. To make sure that people could still hear me clearly, I chose music that wasn't too loud and I lowered tyhe volume on clipchamp. The video felt nicer and less empty thanks to the music. Overall, the editing process was quick and simple.

production of my ccr

So for my CCRs me and my partner met up and tried to do my idea of a post project press conference. We thought it would look like real media interviews after a basketball game but make it of me answering questions after my movie comes out. But we never did it because we didnt know how to make it look real enough and if I wanted it to look real I would've needed a greenscreen and a high end editing platform. I felt lost and didnt know what to do next. Then my partner came up with a idea based on a popular YouTube series answering Google’s most searched questions. It is a thing where celeberties answer questions commonly searched on google about them. When he told me this idea I liked it right away because it was easy to film and a good and fun way to do it. It also works good because we could answer all the CCR questions in a clear way.

After that wehad to get everything ready. My partner helped by making the google board with the questions on it so the CCR questions so it looked more like the real videos. While he was doing hat I
a script which was mainly my blogs. Then we recorded the CCR as a pt.1 and pt.2 so it was easier to work with and not too long. My partner held the phone and recorded while I sat and read parts of the script while also talking to the camera. We didnt really need a lot of equipment so it saved a lot of time. In the end I really liked my idea and thought it was a creative way to do it

My CCR idea

For my CCR I want to show my answers in a more fun way instead of just talking to the camera and be broing. I want each part to feel like a different type of video style. This will make the idea more interesting and also help explain my ideas in a non boring way.

For questions three and four I want to make a press conference style film. The idea is that I will sit at a table like a director after launching a film. It will look like how players sit at a table after a game and press ask them questions. I will record questions that sound like reporters asking about my film process. Then I will answer them on camera. The questions will focus on how my production skills grew and how I used technology in the project. For example a reporter might ask how my shooting skills improved and I will share what I learned about camera shots, framing, and editing. Another question will ask about the technology I used such as the camera, editing tools, and online stuff i researched. I think its a cool way and creative that I dont think many people have done. Also im going to be sure to add many photos and images of my thought process and the progress. will definatley be sampling from my blogs.

For questions one and two I will show parts of my film opening while I talk over the clips and explain what is happening. While the scene is playing I will talk about it and answer the questions. This way I can show the process of shooting and stuff like that while still answering the questions. This way the watcher can understand what I'm doing because they can see the exact scene I am talking about while I explain it. Sort of like a documentary but not really.

CCR #4

In this project we used different types of technology to plan, film, and edit our film opening. For gear, we used a camera to record our scenes and get the shots we needed. We shot everything on a iphone and I actually found a app called Blackmagic cam which helps record at a high quality on iphone but it took forver to upload onto my computer.

We also used clipchamp to cut clips, put scenes in the proper order, and add the title and credits. For me editing was more important that I though. If you where to watch the piece un edited vs edited you would be shocked. editing is also important because it helps control pace and lets directors to build tension by choosing when the audience sees certain stuff. We also used canva to edit our title, production logo,
wanted poster, news brodcast, ect. Canva is actually really helpfull because of its templates and how easy it is to use.

We used the internet to do research on scary films and to understand how real crime stories and news programs sound. This helped us make the news story scene feel more realistic. Online research is often used in film production to help artists understand genre and target audience.

CCR #3

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Ive gotten better at this filming and editing since I learned more about planning, shooting, and cutting scenes for this assignment, I got a lot better at making film. We mostly talked about the story and how the beginning should look and how we wanted everything to be at the start of the project. As soon as we started shooting, I realized how important it is to choose the right camera settings and shots. We even had to ditch a couple of ideas because of how hard it is to get lighting perfect and some shots. We mostly took pictures inside except our the brodcast, like the hallway and all the shots. These shots helped make a mystery feeling because the audience slowly finds what is happening.

Also, what me and my partenr did was we didnt shoot everything in chronological order but we chose which shots would be more convenient to save us time. We used close up shots of important items like the knife, the victim’s id, the grey sneakers, and the hoodie. These shots helped show hints about the crime while letting us put the credits next to each item. This made the start feel more official and helped connect the props to the story.

Another skill I improved was editing. During editing we worked on movements like the apartment door closing, the title showing, and then moving to the news story about the murder. Editing helped the story move better and helped build tension. It was also sometimes hard to record alone, and during the news show scene it was hard to stay serious because me and my partner kept laughing while trying to act like real reporters.

Research CCR #2

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

My film opening gets the viewers by adding mystery and tension at the start. It starts with the news reporter talking about the crime as the camera slowly shows the murderer watching the show. This builds suspense because the viewer starts to figure out what is going without showing what happened. The close ups of the knife, gray shoes, and hoodie work as little hints.  These little things make viewers interested and tempt them to stay and watch to find out more. This engages with the audience because it encourages them to pay attention and put the peices together. We never show the guy is the murderer but our little clues hint at it.

This also goes to the arget audience for horror and thriller films. Its very all round category in which many ages and people love it. Why might people love horror you might be asking? well research shows that people like horror because it gives feelings like nervousness, excitement, and curiosity.  Some people love the adrenaline from scary scenes and jump scares, while other people watch horror as a way to face fear in a safe way that you wont actually get hurt. This shows that horror films draw audiences that like intense emotions and tension. Because of this me and my partner really wanted to add alot of tension in our opening scene because it one of the main things these horror lovers are seeking.  I also never knew this but horror is the most diverse genre meaning that its likings is very mixed as there is an even amount of people the love it and hate it.

The most likely ways for this movie to get out there are through online advertising and viewing services. To reach younger people who like scary and mysterious stories, trailers and short clips like YouTube and social media. The movie could come out in theaters or on online services after it has been promoted so that more people can see it. These days, a lot of horror movies get their movies out this way because it helps them reach fans who are eagerly looking for new scary movies online.

CCR #1 Research

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

My opening uses some thriller and crime film conventions.  I use dim lighting to build suspense and mystery.  The killer’s face was still disguised with a sweatshirt and mask.  This follows common thriller conventions where the villain is not fully shown to add tension.  Films like Halloween and Se7en also disguise the murderer to make the viewer feel fear and uncertainty.  I also start with a news broadcast.  Crime films typically employ media stories to offer background information swiftly and make the plot seem real.  The wanted poster helps the crime genre since it reveals the suspect information and increases tension

At the same time, it comes up against some conventions. Instead of showing the killer clearly, I focus on what he was wearing. The wanted sign does not show his face. It only describes his clothes. This makes the viewers pay attention to small things. It also creates mystery because viewers can't completely figure out him.

My product shows societal issues by showing how media shows crime.  The news broadcast shows how info gets to the public.  It also shows how suspects might be found by their looks.  The focus on clothes ties to real problems related to profiling and misconceptions.  The video shows that people will usually make choices based on little facts.  Overall, it uses classic thriller themes to create suspense but also illustrates how media and society respond to crime.
