Drama
Hi there, im starting my Portfolio Project and I have many ideas but one of my ideas for the genre is drama, at first I was thinking to do a comedy but I started thinking and I felt it would be hard and would take alot of planning to realy get that comedic feel in about two minutes. Then I was thinking and I was like I feel that drama could have some serious potential because the best way to start off a movie is in a dramatic and mysterious way. I feel that I could get the most out of a drama.
Drama is what im going to pick for my portfolio project. I chose drama because it lets you focus on feelings and problems in real life. Drama movies can really tell a story in a nice and easy way. Usually drama movies target young adults to adults. The people watching usually want to feel connected to the characters. The movies usually have emotions like sadness, stress, or hope. The audience wants stories that feel real and believable. Drama movies can also expand into other genres and combine such as Love dramas and comedic dramas. The stories focus on real problems like family issues, love, friendship, or loss pretty much everything can be a drama.
Drama content focuses on character struggles. Some very common movie themes are like losing, family problems, love and more stuff like that. The film openings often shows a normal moment from the main character’s life to get to know the character and their lives before the main problem. It helps the audience understand who the guy is and what they are going through.
Drama techniques help show emotion. Close up shots are used a lot in dramas and its to the shoulder up to be able to focus on emotions. Institutional conventions for dramas are usually simple. Titles use clean fonts like you wouldnt use a warm cursive font for a horror movie. Marketing focuses on the character and the story like trailers to promote these movies and since dramas is one of the biggest genres its important to market these movies good.
